For non-actors these workshops offer the opportunity to explore the realms of great plays with no pressure to perform. No homework is required and all text material is provided. Using a wide variety of plays there is information on the plots, the philosophy and the characters’ motives. Some participants may prefer to simply listen during the sessions. Others may find speaking the words of these funny, dangerous and inspiring characters too much fun to resist! Available class information can be found on the NEWS section of this website. Sybil has held workshops and seminars for non-actors in a variety of schools, business, religious and private institutions for groups as small as 8 and as large as 100 participants. Venues have included an all-day seminar at the Archives of Literature, Marbach am Neckar (Schiller’s hometown in Germany); a birthday celebration that included a specially devised theatrical event at a private house; a 2-day event at the Chateau de Pourtales in Strasbourg, France for business trainees; a weekend coordinated with visits to art galleries in Washington D.C. for a group of retirees; and a 3-hour session at Edge Hall in Gloucestershire, England for local residents. In 2010 at the Kolping School, Germany she held several workshops for teachers from various countries including Norway, Turkey, Spain, Lithuania, America and France. Her teaching profile includes London’s Royal Central School of Speech and Drama; Academy of the Spoken Word, Stuttgart, Germany; Catholic University, Washington D.C.; USEA; Drey Institute at Rollins College, Florida and in New York City the Actors’ and Directors’ Lab.; ACTeen Academy; Corner Loft Studio and Circle in the Square Theatre School.
