CLASSES FOR ACTORS

When writers choose drama over a novel or poem, they entrust the completion of their communication to an actor.  Fulfill that trust with an approach that focuses on in-the-moment specificity, modulated new thought and honed technical skills that enable the full expression of a passionate imagination.

Shakespeare from the Loins © :

This acting course gets to grips with the meaning of Shakespearean text by identifying the characters’ deepest needs. Understanding the requirements of heightened language and meter while avoiding phony presentational performances is the basis of this course. A great variety of plays are explored using visceral exercises to help the actor manifest not only primal emotional and specific psychological intensity but also appropriate physical energy. Clarity of intellectual meaning is important, but it takes more than that to share the humanity of a story with an audience. Making sense of the relationships on human terms helps us make sense of the text. All text material is provided. There is no watching colleagues struggle through long scenes so everyone works throughout every session and immediate direction efficiently conserves the actor’s time. No homework is required.Shakespeare from the Loins © is designed for those with availability constraints and is typically a weekend intensive.
